Senior Manufacturing Engineer (SME)
Location:
Boston, MA
Our client is looking for an Senior Manufacturing Engineer (SME) for a project and below is the detailed requirement.
Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrialization, or Production Launch.
- Proven experience supporting high-volume discrete manufacturing environments such as Automotive, Battery, Energy, Aerospace, or Heavy Equipment industries.
- Strong expertise in New Product Introduction (NPI), process development, manufacturing process optimization, and production ramp-up
. - Hands‑on experience developing process flows, line layouts, workstation designs, SOPs, work instructions, routings, and manufacturing documentation
. - Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis
. - Experience leading PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, PPAP, process validation, and manufacturing risk assessments
. - Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone), cycle time reduction, yield improvement, and OEE optimization
. - Experience collaborating with Equipment, Automation, Controls, Quality, Supply Chain, Facilities, and EHS teams for manufacturing readiness.
- Hands‑on experience with manufacturing tooling, fixtures, Poka-Yoke, automation equipment, sensors, and safety systems.
- Familiarity with MES, SCADA, PLM, SAP ERP
, and manufacturing performance metrics such as OEE, Takt Time, and Line Balancing is preferred. - Experience supporting greenfield manufacturing facilities, equipment installation, commissioning, and production handover is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and troubleshooting skills.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from process planning through production launch and high-volume manufacturing.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, production workflows, line layouts, and workstation designs to improve efficiency and quality.
- Create and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, Process Flow Diagrams, Manufacturing Routings, and Launch Readiness documentation
. - Collaborate with Product Engineering teams to provide DFM/DFA recommendations, GD&T guidance, and manufacturability improvements
. - Lead PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, PPAP activities, process validation, and manufacturing risk mitigation initiatives.
- Partner with Equipment and Controls Engineering teams to implement and validate tooling, fixtures, automation systems, error‑proofing (Poka-Yoke), and safety solutions.
- Support material flow optimization by implementing PFEP strategies, packaging improvements, sequencing, and line-side material delivery
