The Opportunity
PAE is seeking a visionary and highly technical Senior Plumbing Design Engineer in our Boston office to provide high-level project leadership and technical mastery within our plumbing department. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of complex building projects, serving as a primary technical resource and mentor to staff. As a potential Engineer of Record (EOR), you will leverage your expertise in mechanical and plumbing systems;
including fire protection requirements, to deliver innovative, code-compliant solutions while fostering strong, long-term relationships with clients and partners.

What You'll Do
- Project team leadership and management, responsible for completing the project on time within budget
- Responsible for the preparation of deliverable documents including narratives, calculations, drawings and specifications
- Attend client meetings, lead the coordination effort between external and internal project teams
- Independently evaluate and apply engineering judgment, techniques, and procedures to complete a project from concepts through construction
- Proficient in mechanical and plumbing system design
- Assemble effective project teams
- Develop project workplans, tasks and assignments for the team
- Thorough understanding of interdisciplinary coordination
- Advanced understanding of the application of building codes and plumbing industry standards
- Oversee plumbing design calculations and equipment selection
- Perform site visits and issues reports
- Provide training, guidance and mentorship for staff
- Provide updates to master specifications and standards, and improve company processes
- Develop client relationships
- Determine fire protection and plumbing system requirements for various building types
- Oversee the application of the project quality management plan (QMP)
- May be responsible as a Project Manager or the Engineer of Record (EOR) with approval
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
- Bachelor's Degree for discipline work or equivalent experience
- Relevant professional credential (i.e., PE, CPD)
- Requires a minimum of 1-3 years as a Plumbing Design Lead, or 6-10 years' related work experience
- Inspire and motivate staff
- Serve as a technical resource for the company
- Advanced understanding of plumbing design concepts, code knowledge, and able to effectively communicate design options
- Strong delegation skills
- Attention to detail and advanced organizational skills
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and standards including: UPC, IPC, NFPA and IBC
- Revit/AutoCAD
What We Offer
- Hiring Base Salary Range: $113,600-$142,200 annual
- This position is eligible for time and a half overtime pay
