What You Will Do
GFT is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest in mechanical systems to lead mechanical designs. Work will be across sectors such as K-12, Higher Education, Federal, Aviation, Food & Beverage, and Transportation. This position is located in Boston, MA
.
- Survey and study building mechanical equipment and systems.
- Design HVAC systems, building automation systems, plumbing systems, and fire suppression systems.
- Provide technical direction to mechanical designers and technicians on specific projects.
- Write progress and other reports.
- Write project specifications.
- Manage projects.
- Identify and resolve problems proactively.
- Coordinate and verify project deliverables.
- Participate in business‑development meetings, prepare proposals, and engage with clients.
- A BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- 8+ years of experience independently designing HVAC systems for renovated and new facilities, including hydronic & steam boiler plants, chiller plants, terminal unit systems, distribution systems, and control systems.
- 5+ years of experience using energy‑modeling and heat‑load software for energy use analyses and heat‑load calculations.
- Strong understanding of psychrometrics.
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical building codes, energy codes, and construction standards.
- Strong understanding of DDC controls and control design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with REVIT, Architectural/MEP packages, and BIM
360. - Plumbing experience.

Hours:
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM - Employment Status:
Full‑Time - Salary Range: $120,000 – $160,000 (dependent on experience and geographic location)
