The Senior HVAC Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of design and planning of projects; acts as Lead Engineer on projects; represents RWS in meetings; supervises team of designers and drafters; may act as Project Manager on selected projects.
Responsibilities- Lead HVAC Engineer on projects. Coordinating all aspects of the projects with the Project Manager and Team Leader
- Responsible for the design and production of heating, cooling, ventilation, and exhaust (HVAC) systems; including but not limited to attending meetings and site walk-throughs, performing site surveys, coordination with other disciplines/consultants, and preparation of narratives/reports, drawings, and specifications for all assigned projects
- Construction Administration duties including field visits and reports, RFI and submittals reviews, and issuance of bulletins
- All engineering aspects of the projects that they are assigned to
- All technical content of contract documents, including drawings, specs, report, etc.
- Reviewing conceptual design with the Team Leader and/or Technical Director;
Completion of projects/tasks to meet dates on the job list that they are assigned to - Coordination with the project manager and other team members on all technical aspects of the project
- Ensuring HVAC work is within the scope of the proposal and on budget
- Ensuring QA/QC process is carried out per RWS standards and informing PM
- Completion of the QC checklist
- Minimum of 8 years HVAC design experience
- Possess a strong technical background, and knowledge of HVAC systems and their applications for various commercial, institutional, medical, and public buildings such as healthcare, biotech, higher education, office, and large mixed-use residential buildings and hotels.
- Full knowledge and understanding of state building codes, energy codes and NFPA codes
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and clients
- PE is preferred. Prior team leadership or management a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
