Job Description

Transportation Civil Engineer

Participate in cutting‑edge, multi‑disciplinary roadway design projects for high‑profile state agencies and large municipalities across New England. Work closely with a team of civil engineers to deliver roadway designs that incorporate multimodal facilities, traffic calming treatments, urban streets roadway designs and modifications, accessibility improvements, transit network upgrades, drainage assessments and designs, public and private utility coordination, and green infrastructure elements. The role is hybrid and can be filled in any of our New England offices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise on projects from the conceptual and preliminary engineering design phase to final design.
  • Provide technical expertise on projects beyond final design to the construction phase services.
  • Coordinate with architects, bridge, environmental, geotechnical, survey, and traffic professionals to complete multi-disciplinary project deliverables.
  • Assist project managers in various aspects of roadway design, utility infrastructure design and coordination, development of construction documents, and construction support services.
  • Prepare detailed civil design plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
  • Work with Project Managers to ensure that specifications, reports and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 4 – 8 years of experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for roadway design projects.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license, or the ability and motivation to obtain a license.
  • Experience developing roadway designs in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Transportation, New Hampshire Department of Transportation or Maine Department of Transportation design guidelines and standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Micro Station – InRoads/Open Roads, AutoTURN.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in 3D roadway models, horizontal alignments, profiles, corridors, cross sections, grading, sidewalk/curb ramps, ADA design, construction phasing, quantity takeoffs, and estimates preferred.
Employment Requirements

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $81,000 - $109,000.
