Linux Electrical Engineer (Project Length: 12+ Months) supports development and testing of hardware interfaces for Real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop simulators at a Boston, MA location. The role requires 4+ years in electrical engineering with Linux RTOS expertise for embedded systems design and integration. Hands-on circuit work and collaboration with manufacturers ensure reliable system performance. You will report primarily to the Director of Hardware and Electrical Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design hardware interfaces and develop software for Real-time Hardware-in-the-Loop simulators.
  • Select and procure electrical components under tight timelines.
  • Create and interpret electrical specifications, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Develop Lab View projects for prototype sensors and optical equipment.
  • Perform circuit design and software development for portable devices.
  • Conduct circuit reviews and microprocessor programming using Python and C++.
  • Collaborate with PCB fabricators and contract manufacturers.
Required

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years electrical engineering in industrial, defense, or R&D sectors.
  • Proven Linux-based Real-time Operating Systems development experience.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Java, and Python for embedded systems.

    Strong analog and digital circuit analysis and design skills.
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, signal generators, and multimeters.
  • Basic soldering skills for surface-mount packages (0603, 0402, TSSOP, SOIC).
  • Native or bilingual English proficiency.
Preferred

Skills:

  • VxWorks or other non-Linux RTOS debugging experience.
  • Verilog, VHDL, or MATLAB familiarity.
  • Automated testing and in-situ detection systems experience.
  • IoT-enabled control schemes knowledge.
