BESS Field Commissioning Manager

BESS Field Commissioning Manager. This is a 1‑year contract assignment (W‑2). The role involves overseeing the delivery, installation, plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, and startup of a Battery Energy Storage System and Solar Coupled Power systems. You will serve as the Owner’s representative, managing subcontractors and OEMs, and ensuring all aspects of the energy storage system—site work, installation, status reporting, safety, quality control, startup, commissioning, testing, and project close‑out—are completed to specifications.

Remote with 50% travel to Juno and job sites as needed.

• Participate in safety program and audits
• Perform detailed system quality‑control inspections for completeness of installation versus installation manuals, engineering specifications, and drawings; maintain a detailed punch‑list
• Conduct system walk‑downs for mechanical completeness prior to turnover or energization
• Create and manage energization plans
• Prepare and review project close‑out and testing documents
• Manage third‑party substation testing and substation energization
• Conduct metering testing
• Manage ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning processes
• Review Purchase Power Agreements and Interconnect Agreements to develop guidelines for performance testing
• Collaborate with Engineering, Commissioning, and Business Management personnel to obtain agreement on testing requirements
• Develop a complete testing plan for assigned projects to ensure all deliverables across relevant contractual documentation are met
• Schedule and lead alignment meetings leading up to and during performance testing periods to coordinate required support parties and implement the test

• Experience installing and starting up Battery Energy Storage Systems
• Understanding of the technical performance and integration of Li‑Ion batteries within ESS
• Experience creating commissioning processes
• Experience in substation testing and startup
• Proficient in protection and control implementation and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of containerized systems, skids, controllers/SCADA, transformers, and combiners
• Ability to perform quality‑control inspections and punch‑list management
• Experience with DC systems (0–2,000 Vdc) and AC systems (480 V–34.5 kV)
• Familiarity troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC) and industrial electronics (protection relays, inverters, BMS, etc.)
• Experience with control and SCADA systems and troubleshooting
• Professional electrical career in power systems commissioning, with at least 100 MW‑hr or 5 EA energy storage systems commissioned
• Preference for a background in BESS and SCADA experience

Base salary range: $55.00/hr to $60.00/hr, dependent upon experience, qualifications, and skills.
