The LNG Business Development Lead is responsible for leadership and oversight of HDR’s LNG Service Line’s business strategy, client development, financial performance and project delivery. Oversee technical and financial performance for major environmental/compliance, planning, design, and field service programs, work with local operations managers, regional directors, and Industrial Sector leadership on strategic planning, development of annual and long‑term goals, budgeting, program leadership, client development, community and industry participation, project pursuits, and staffing.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement the strategy for continued profitable sustainable growth of HDR’s LNG Service Line.
- Position HDR to win work with clients including Gas Utilities, Developers, Midstream companies, and Major Oil & Gas companies.
- Provide technical oversight and leadership of project delivery in the LNG Service Line.
- Recruit, retain, mentor, and train key personnel required to develop and deliver LNG Service Line projects and build client relationships.
- Determine which HDR service offerings can be leveraged into the LNG market.
- Work with Business Group and Operational leadership on HDR’s annual planning and budgeting process for the LNG Service Line.
- Manage projects and/or provide subject‑matter expertise for LNG projects.
- Serve as client manager for key clients and develop strong client relationships.
- Monitor new market trends and participate in development and implementation of local and regional strategic and tactical planning.
- Facilitate major pursuit proposal reviews, client feedback, problem resolution, recognition activities, and client development within the Service Line.
- Encourage and participate in business and community activities as a representative of HDR.
- Minimum 10 years LNG project management experience.
- Deep understanding of the LNG market, including Small/Midscale LNG.
- Strong knowledge of LNG facilities – operation, maintenance, upgrade, and improvement.
- Strong relationships with clients who own, operate, or develop LNG facilities.
- Solid network of personnel with LNG engineering background to recruit to HDR.
- Excellent communication skills; self‑motivated, organized, flexible, and able to work independently and with a project team.
- A valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- PMP certification.
- Previous staff supervision experience preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to support HDR offices, project teams, and client engagement.
- Ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams, regional managers, department and project staff.
- Understanding of identification, management, and mitigation of project and owner/operator risk.
- Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated “self‑starter” with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
- Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry’s standard approach to procurement of professional services.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Demonstrated ability to build a network of clients and industry partners.
- Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies.
- Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability and desire to travel and engage with others in person.
- Demonstrated experience in growing programs in new or highly competitive markets.
- Demonstrated experience in winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
- Demonstrated experience in writing compelling content based on information from technical staff.
Pay range: $180,000 – $260,000 (North America, based on experience and location).
Primary location:
United States – Pennsylvania – Philadelphia.
Other available locations:
United States and Canada (multiple sites).
