Responsibilities

  • Develop complete electrical control panel designs, including schematics, one-line diagrams, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, bills of materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, and wire lists.
  • Specify, size, and integrate electrical components such as circuit breakers, contractors, transformers, power supplies, PLCs, VFDs, terminal blocks, enclosures, and associated wiring.
  • Design custom cable assemblies and wiring harnesses to support integrated automation and control systems.
  • Create and execute hardware validation plans, test fixtures, and verification procedures to ensure system functionality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and control system issues by interpreting schematics and system architectures from field devices through PLCs, motor drives, HMIs, and SCADA interfaces.
  • Configure, commission, and debug PLC and HMI applications, including industrial communication networks and SCADA connectivity.
  • Apply applicable electrical codes and safety standards, including NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A, IEC/EN 60204-1, ISO 12100, and ISO 13849-1, while addressing SCCR, arc-flash, CE, TÜV, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and engineering support to manufacturing teams, panel builders, suppliers, service personnel, purchasing, and sales throughout project execution.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, manage design revisions through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and update product data within PLM systems.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, identify technical risks, and implement corrective actions to improve system reliability and performance.
  • Communicate project progress, technical challenges, and engineering solutions effectively with cross-functional teams, management, vendors, and customers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting engineering best practices, mentoring team members, and enhancing departmental processes.
  • Travel as required to support customer installations, commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and on-site engineering assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or electrical system design.
  • Experience designing and developing automated equipment for industries such as machine building, robotics, semiconductor manufacturing, medical devices, or contract engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of low-voltage industrial control systems and three-phase power distribution up to 480 VAC.
  • Experience designing and validating electrical test fixtures, including instrumentation, data acquisition systems, automated test equipment, and hardware characterization.
  • Hands-on experience with motion control systems, including servo, stepper, and BLDC motors, drives, encoders, motion controllers, and closed-loop tuning.
  • Knowledge of sensor integration, analog and digital signal conditioning, and industrial instrumentation.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems using Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, or similar platforms, including industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Ether Net/IP, Modbus, CANopen, and Industry 4.0/IIoT technologies. Experience with safety PLCs is a plus.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software such as EPLAN Electric P8, AutoCAD Electrical, or Solid Works Electrical.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design using Altium Designer, KiCad, or similar tools for custom electronic circuits, including power supply and signal conditioning designs.
  • Understanding of electrical safety principles and compliance with standards including NFPA 79, NEC, IEC/EN 60204-1, ISO 12100, ISO 13849-1, UL 508A, CE, and TÜV requirements, including SCCR, arc-flash, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) considerations. UL 508A MTR certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems development and firmware programming in C/C++ to support custom electronic hardware.
  • Experience developing automated test scripts and engineering tools using Python, LabVIEW, or MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for configuration and design change management.
