- Design a variety of bridge types, including steel, concrete, prestressed, and post‑tensioned structures.
- Perform design of associated structures such as retaining walls, foundations, and gantries.
- Conduct bridge load ratings and support inspection and rehabilitation efforts.
- Participate in bridge and culvert inspections.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Contribute to the growth of the Massachusetts and New England bridge practice through strong leadership and the delivery of high‑quality, constructible designs.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 7 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- PE license in Massachusetts; reciprocity with CT and NH a plus.
- Massachusetts Structural Engineer (SE) licensure.
- 7+ years of MassDOT bridge design experience.
- Experience with NHDOT, CTDOT, RIDOT, Massport, and/or MBTA projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Micro Station, and/or Open Bridge.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis and modeling software such as STAAD, CSI Bridge, MIDAS, AASHTOWare, or LARSA 4D.
- Experience with movable bridges and/or tunnel design or analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
- Ability to arrange/layout structural systems and elements for strength, stability, constructability, and construction economy.
- Strong knowledge of engineering analysis/design software (e.g., Revit, STAAD, RISA).
