Job Description
CDM Smith is seeking a subject matter expert to support our services around PFASs (and other emerging contaminants), including PFASs Forensics, Fate and Transport, and Remedial Investigations. Our PFASs services support clients within the aviation, industrial, municipal, and federal markets. We are looking for someone who can support business development opportunities in collaboration with our growing team of local and national project managers, technical experts, research and development team and marketing professionals.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in PFASs Application Forensics with over 5 years’ experience with concentrated focus with PFASs Forensics.
- Under limited supervision, creates basic to moderate complexity engineering designs, investigations, and reports to meet client project requirements for remediation sites, solid waste facilities, etc.
- Having a good understanding of the current state of PFAS research as it relates to environmental, drinking water and wastewater applications.
- Expertise with use of high-resolution mass spectrometry (Orbitrap / QTOF)
- Experience using the NIST database.
- Detailed understanding of PFASs chemistry, uses, manufacturing, fate transport, and precursor transformation
- Experience with Analytical Methods: CIC, TOP, NMR
- Experience with sample preparation protocols and inherent biases (matrix effects and PFASs extraction inefficiencies)
- Having an industry presence, demonstrated by record of publications, conference presentations, and scientific communication
Bachelor's degree. 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications- Active membership in a related professional organization.
- Relevant professional license or certification (i.e., P.E., LEED AP, Env SP, ACIP, etc.).
- Existing, strong relationships with aviation, industrial, municipal, federal clients.
- Advanced understanding of PFAS chemistry
- PhD in PFASs Application Forensics
Solid knowledge of corporate governance practices, organization design principles, accounting principles, finance, supply chain management, and organization management. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to understand complex technical, professional and business materials.
