Ampere Recruitment is working with a fast-growing company that designs power electronics technology for implantable devices. Their platform is already used in 50+ device types worldwide, and they're hiring a Staff Power Electronics Engineer to join their team.
The RoleYou’ll own high-stakes electrical engineering challenges across power electronics and analog circuit design, taking systems from concept through working hardware. This covers schematic capture, PCB layout, and lab-based debugging to ensure platforms are reliable, manufacturable, and customer-ready.
Day-to-day, you will:- Own power electronics, battery management, and analog circuit risks through to closure
- Design and release circuits end-to-end in Altium (schematic capture, PCB layout)
- Prototype, test, and debug hardware in the lab
- Diagnose failure modes in power, analog, and mixed-signal circuits and drive root‑cause fixes
- Take hardware through key milestones — schematic release, layout, bring‑up, verification, shipping
- Act as a technical SME supporting the test engineering team
- Collaborate across systems, electromagnetics, mechanical, firmware, and test disciplines
- Improve EE workflows, documentation, and engineering rigour
- Strong background in power electronics and analog circuit design
- Experience designing and validating circuits/power converters for regulated, high‑reliability products
- Proficient in Altium for schematic capture, PCB layout, and release
- Hands‑on lab experience with prototyping, bring‑up, debugging, and verification
- Good understanding of passives and device‑level modelling (inductors, transformers, semiconductors)
- Methodical, detail‑oriented approach and strong cross‑functional communication
- Experience with active implantable medical devices
- High‑frequency power electronics or resonant power systems
- Wireless power transfer / electromagnetic design exposure
- Familiarity with IEC 60601 or ISO 14708
