Automation Engineer

My client is expanding and seeks an Automation Engineer to build and manage a team, as well as develop internal processes and validation studies. The ideal person will take on the following tasks:

• Collaborate with the development team to create and implement protocols for liquid handlers and robotics.
• Lead the calibration and maintenance of laboratory automation.
• Document workflows and train lab personnel.
• Lead the design of experiments, and drive the execution, data analysis, and presentation of outcomes.
• Design, plan, and execute product and process optimization.
• Author technical documents such as SOPs, work instructions, and validation studies and reports.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

• BS degree and 4+ years working with lab automation in biotech or life sciences.
• Experience with coding in python, optimizing protocols, and working with robotic liquid handlers such as Hamilton, Tecan, etc.
• Excellent attention to detail coupled with the ability to communicate effectively and work cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.
• Familiarity with QMS and quality standards including ISO:9001 or 13485.
