The Geotechnical team in Boston expects the Senior Geotechnical Engineer to work on challenging projects across New England.

Responsibilities
  • Direct junior staff to perform field activities including geotechnical drilling, laboratory testing, and construction observations with subcontractors.
  • Coordinate geotechnical tasks and manage medium to large size geotechnical projects.
  • Review construction submittals and daily field reports.
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and prepare reports for the design and construction of shallow and deep foundations.
  • Review work of and mentor junior staff.
  • Prepare contract specifications and drawings.
  • Interrelate with external clients and subcontractors.
  • Provide quality technical support on municipal, commercial, transportation, energy, and water projects; design/build projects preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills in areas such as:
    • Geotechnical engineering evaluations including:
    • Earth retention systems design
    • Shallow and deep foundation design
    • Ground improvement techniques
    • Earthquake engineering
  • Experience with drilling oversight and soil/rock classification.
  • Experience with construction oversight including subgrade observations, backfill and compaction observations, deep foundation installation.
  • HDD or tunnel design experience is a plus but not required.
Education & Experience
  • 6 to 10 years of related experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks and junior staff.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and perform field work under inclement weather and physically demanding conditions.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, with a keen sense of detail.
  • Availability to work additional hours beyond a standard 40‑hour week when needed.
