Join the power movement as NDT Manager – Responsible Level IIIThe NDT Manager is the Responsible Level III, technical leader, and people manager for NDT Operations s role is responsible for leading the NDT technician team, serving as the Responsible Level III and Certifying Authority, and building and scaling the organization's NDT capability from SPARC manufacturing and assembly into the future ARC fleet.
You are accountable for the successful execution of all NDT inspections across CFS manufacturing, CFS-2 construction, tokamak assembly, and vendor sites, spanning UT/UTPA, RT (CR & DR), ET, PT, MT, and VT. You will set the technical direction across the full method portfolio and own the personnel qualification and certification program. This role directly manages the NDT supervisor, and talented team of NDT technicians.
You will interface directly with corporate EHS Radiation Safety, project managers, design, vendors, manufacturing, construction, and tokamak assembly to ensure personnel are scheduled and assigned to the jobs as applicable to their credentials.
- Develop and maintain organizational NDT capabilities, identifying gaps in technology or competency and implementing solutions that scale from SPARC manufacturing and assembly into the future ARC fleet
- Partner with corporate EHS Radiation Safety to ensure safe and compliant industrial radiography operations
- Act as the Responsible Level III and Certifying Authority, maintaining overall responsibility for the NDT personnel qualification and certification program
- Oversee NDT execution across CFS manufacturing, CFS-2 construction, tokamak assembly, and vendor sites, ensuring safety, compliance, and alignment with project schedules
- Oversee and audit NDT technicians to ensure examinations are conducted in accordance with work instructions and are aligned with engineering requirements & applicable codes and standards
- Work directly with the NDT engineering and training team to help establish technician training and competency to new procedures and standards
- Participate in establishing and maintaining training and qualification frameworks for NDT technicians, and provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting
- Review and audit work order instructions and procedures to ensure the latest is used for examinations
- Use NDT results to inform nonconformances and RCCA, and drive the continuous improvement of NDT capabilities to feed lessons learned back into process and design improvements for future projects
- 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
- Level III certification (ASNT, NAS 410, or ISO 9712) in UT/PAUT and RT
- Working knowledge of surface and visual methods (PT, MT, VT) sufficient to oversee, audit, and certify technicians in those methods
- 12+ years of NDT experience on critical components (e.g., heavy-wall welds, complex geometries, or other high-integrity applications)
- Hands-on experience with industrial radiography using digital techniques (CR and/or DR)
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section V, VIII.
2, and other applicable ASTM NDT standards) - At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity, with proven leadership of an NDT team
- Strong working command of advanced ultrasonic techniques (PAUT, encoded scanning; familiarity with TFM/FMC) sufficient to develop procedures, direct examinations, and audit results
