Job PurposeThe Lead Plant Compliance Engineer (under the direction of the Manager of Compliance & Training) will work within the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) Operations Compliance & Training Group covering three (3) states, with ten (10) LNG plants to ensure high levels of regulatory and company policy compliance through use of internal audits/inspections, risk analysis, and standardization across the enterprise. This role will also prepare reports for departmental management, train plant personnel on procedural changes and updates.
KeyAccountabilities
- Provide expert technical support during federal, state, and local regulatory inspections, contributing to successful compliance outcomes and timely resolution of identified issues.
- Conduct plant compliance inspections and assessments, identifying deficiencies and implementing corrective actions that improved regulatory adherence and operational safety.
- Enhance LNG Operator Training Program by developing and delivering training materials, improving operator competency, qualification readiness, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor changes to LNG codes, regulations, and company policies, leading implementation efforts and ensuring 100% documentation and communication of new requirements to plant personnel.
- Develop and execute compliance action plans that strengthened adherence to LNG regulations, company standards, and Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
- Build working relationships with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders, facilitating efficient inspections, audits, and resolution of compliance findings.
- Maintain expertise in LNG Process Safety Management systems, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and risk mitigation efforts across plant operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required; 5+ years of relevant industry experience preferred.
- Experience in the process industry preferred, including energy, natural gas, utilities, LNG, chemical processing, or similar environments.
- Knowledge of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) systems, processes, and operations.
- Understanding of applicable federal and state LNG regulations and industry standards, including 49 CFR Parts 191, 193, and 199, and NFPA 59A.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with experience evaluating compliance and operational performance, investigating incidents, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions to enhance safety, regulatory compliance, and operational reliability.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across operations, engineering, compliance, and leadership teams.
- Strong organizational, project management, and program management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York as required.
