Senior Product Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Product Design Engineer to design and develop innovative mechanical products from concept through prototype, with a strong focus on camera- and sensor-based systems
.

The ideal candidate will have a strong product-based mechanical design background, preferably in consumer products, robotics, or medical devices
. This role requires hands-on design expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative mechanical products from initial concept through prototype, with a focus on camera- and sensor-based solutions.
• Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Solid Works
  .
• Apply thermal management principles and perform thermal simulations to ensure reliable operation of camera and sensor systems.
• Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Develop, document, and manage mechanical design requirements.
• Conduct design validation activities, including testing, tolerance stack-ups, and design reviews
  .
• Perform root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving to resolve design and product issues.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.
• Work independently to drive projects forward, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical product design

• Strong mechanical engineering and product design background.
• Experience with product-based design, preferably consumer products, robotics, or medical devices
  .
• Proficiency in Solid Works for 3D modeling, assemblies, and detailed mechanical drawings.
• Experience with thermal simulations and thermal management
  .
• Hands-on experience with tolerance stack-ups
  .
• Experience with testing, structured problem-solving, and root-cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of DFM/DFA and production design principles
  .
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with ANSYS or similar simulation tools, particularly for thermal analysis.
• Familiarity with optics design and machine vision applications
  .
• Experience integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Background developing camera-focused or sensor-focused products
  .

Industry Background

Candidates with product development experience from consumer products, robotics, or medical device/surgical robotics are highly preferred.

Aerospace and automotive backgrounds are not preferred for this role.
