The Temporary Stage Manager (SM) at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee (BCB) manages rehearsals and orchestrates runs-of-show for all BCB productions as assigned, including but not limited to plays, musicals, operas, and dance productions. The SM supports the execution of production planning as developed with the production team and artistic collaborators; supervises all onstage activities for assigned productions; collects and disseminates production information;
and ensures that all post-production needs are met.
Under the Performance Services department, the Stage Manager reports to the Assistant Director of Production, collaborates closely with all production staff, and supervises the staff assistant stage managers (staff ASMs) and student assistant stage managers (student ASMs) as assigned to productions. This is a temporary position that is full-time, exempt and will require significant nights and weekends. The position begins in mid-March and runs until mid-May, with possibility to extend.
The expected salary is $960 per week. No housing or travel provided.

END OF SEMESTER EVENTS:
Assignments to be determined with current Stage Management team upon hire (end of April into the first week of May 2026).
- Serve as the Production Stage Manager (PSM) for assigned productions and as Manager on Duty for projects as assigned and in coordination with production staff.
- Supervise ASM(s) assigned to productions. Train student ASMs.
- Attend and disseminate information from production meetings to relevant stakeholders
- Support and supervise rehearsals, including technical and dress rehearsals.
- Manage and communicate weekly rehearsal and performance schedules and production information.
- Distribute rehearsal and performance reports following their conclusion.
- Assemble and maintain the Prompt Book, which is defined as the accurate playing text and stage business, together with such cue sheets, plots, daily records, or any other paperwork, as is necessary for the actual technical and artistic operation of the production.
- Manage room reservations for spacing, rehearsals and performances;
- Coordinate rehearsal prop procurement and organization with the Props Manager
- Attend regular staff meetings and training.
- B.A. in theater or equivalent
- 3-5 years of experience professional experience as a Stage Manager for Theater, Dance, and / or Opera.
- Experience working with and training students in a higher education environment
- Experience with blocking paperwork
- Experience calling a play, musical, opera, and dance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google suite

- Ability to read or follow scores for musicians and/or operas
- Familiarity with File Maker Pro is helpful, though not mandatory
