In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.
The Audio Visual Technician offers audio and projection support for Boston Conservatory productions and events. This position involves setting up and operating microphones, speakers, audio consoles, projectors, displays, and software such as QLab
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Operate audio consoles and playback systems during rehearsals and performances
Set up and strike microphones, cabling, speakers, projectors, screens, and related equipment
Set up and operate communication (comms) systems for tech and dress rehearsals
Operate QLab for both sound and projection cues during rehearsals and performances
Assist with load-in and strike for productions and events
This role focuses on technical operation and support, not system design or content creation
Adheres to department safety procedures and equipment handling guidelines
Ability to work independently at the sound/projection console for up to two hours uninterrupted
Familiarity with theatrical production procedures and policies
Be able to lift at least 25lbs
Excellent punctuality and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow cues, run sheets, and written or verbal instructions accurately during live performances
Prior experience is helpful but not required; on-the-job training will be provided
Interest in learning theatrical audio, projection, and production workflows
