About the FirmWe are partnered with an established and highly regarded middle-market boutique investment bank experiencing significant growth within its Technology practice. With a strong track record across M&A advisory, capital raising, and strategic advisory services, the firm is expanding its Boston presence and seeking a driven Investment Banking Associate to join its Technology Group. The team is known for its entrepreneurial culture, high client visibility, and strong deal flow across software, tech-enabled services, and emerging technology sectors.
Position OverviewThe Associate will play a critical role in transaction execution, client engagement, and analytical leadership within the Technology practice. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team with tangible upward mobility, direct senior banker exposure, and meaningful responsibility from day one. The ideal candidate brings strong financial modeling capabilities, excellent communication skills, and prior experience executing M&A or capital markets transactions.
Key Responsibilities- Deal Execution: Lead analytical work streams for active M&A and capital raising engagements, including building and reviewing financial models, valuation analyses, and due diligence materials.
- Client Engagement: Participate in client calls and meetings, manage client deliverables, and work closely with senior bankers to prepare strategic recommendations.
- Financial Modeling & Valuation: Develop three-statement models, DCFs, LBOs, accretion/dilution analyses, and benchmarking analyses for tech-sector clients.
- Marketing Materials: Draft pitch decks, management presentations, confidential information memoranda (CIMs), teasers, and transaction marketing materials.
- Industry Research: Conduct detailed market analysis, competitive landscapes, and sector insights with a focus on software, AI, fintech, IT services, and emerging tech verticals.
- Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams, legal advisors, consultants, accounting firms, and other stakeholders throughout the transaction process.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and oversight to Analysts; help support training and workflow management.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, valuation advisory, corporate development, or a similar field.
- Strong transaction experience in M&A or capital raising; technology sector experience is a plus.
- Exceptional financial modeling and quantitative skills with the ability to build and QC complex models.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail, particularly in drafting client deliverables.
- Ability to manage multiple work streams in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to interact with senior bankers and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA a plus but not required.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented, and eager to grow in an entrepreneurial setting.
