Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls for a multi-channel retail and eCommerce organization. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information, supports operational decision-making, and drives continuous improvement across accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in retail accounting, inventory management, and financial controls within a product-based environment.

• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results to executive leadership.
• Manage general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Coordinate annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors.

• Lead inventory accounting processes across retail and eCommerce channels.
• Monitor inventory valuation, reserves, shrinkage, and obsolescence.
• Ensure accurate costing (standard, FIFO, weighted average, etc.) and margin analysis.
• Partner with operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory controls and reporting.
• Oversee physical inventory counts and cycle count programs.

• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
• Evaluate financial systems and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.

• Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
• Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Monitor credit card processing, chargebacks, and eCommerce payment platforms.

• Lead and develop the accounting team.
• Collaborate with merchandising, operations, supply chain, and eCommerce teams to support business initiatives.
• Provide financial insights to support pricing, promotions, and growth strategies.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience.
• Strong background in retail, consumer products, or eCommerce environments.
• Deep understanding of inventory accounting and cost of goods sold.
• Experience with ERP systems and inventory management platforms.
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
