2027 Investment Banking Summer Analyst – M&A

OverviewProgress Partners is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Investment Banking team as a 2027 Summer Analyst. This role offers direct exposure to live M&A transactions and strategic advisory engagements, providing hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
Summer Analysts work closely with senior bankers and clients across a broad range of transactions, gaining meaningful insight into M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory projects. Successful candidates will develop strong technical, analytical, and communication skills while contributing meaningfully to client deliverables.
Primary Responsibilities- Perform in‑depth industry and company research to identify market trends, competitive dynamics, and strategic opportunities
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including financial modeling, valuation, and scenario planning
- Assist in the preparation of pitch books, confidential information memorandums (CIMs), and client presentations
- Support transaction execution, including buyer outreach, data room management, and deal process coordination
- Monitor capital markets activity and macro trends to provide actionable insights for deal strategy
- Maintain and update internal databases, including market intelligence, deal tracking, and industry benchmarking
- Strong academic performance (cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher)
- Prior internship or relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate finance, or related fields preferred
- Demonstrated interest in investment banking and M&A
- Strong financial, analytical, and quantitative skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; financial modeling experience a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented, high‑performance environment
- Direct exposure to live M&A transactions
