Overview

JOB DESCRIPTION As a team member in our Alternative Investments practice, you will assist in providing tax compliance and consulting services to our Venture Capital, Private Equity, Hedge Fund, and Real Estate clients.

Job Responsibilities

Job Duties

  • Tax Compliance
    • Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens, and ensure the firm and client service teams comply with Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
    • Apply understanding of each client’s circumstances and prepare required filings (tax returns) with a system of review to ensure full compliance while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
    • Ensure data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected and communicate missing items to the preparer.
    • Utilize Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
    • Collaborate with the Senior on project completion (follow-up with open items).
    • Deliver high quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
    • Coordinate the tax compliance process with the client.
    • Manage daily and weekly schedule to juggle competing priorities and meet internal and client deadlines.
    • Thoroughly document work and conclusions in the client tax file.
  • Tax Consulting
    • Assist with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Education, Qualifications, Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other relevant field required
  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred
Experience
  • More than one (1) year of prior tax experience required
  • Financial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds preferred
  • Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships preferred
Licenses / Certifications
  • Working towards CPA, CFP, Masters in Tax, or JD
Software
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and Adobe Acrobat preferred
  • Experience with tax research databases preferred
  • Proficient in tax compliance process software preferred
Language
  • N/A

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to follow instructions as directed by members of Tax Team
  • Takes appropriate actions without being asked
  • Seeks advice of appropriate superiors regarding issues related to compliance

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

California Range: $80,000 - $83,500

Colorado Range: $70,000 - $80,000

Illinois Range: $74,000 - $80,000

Maryland Range: $85,500 - $88,000

Massachusetts Range: $86,500 - $89,000

Minnesota Range: $72,000 - $78,000

New Jersey Range: $77,000 - $92,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $93,000 - $95,000

Washington Range: $69,500 - $80,000

Washington DC Range: $86,000 - $90,000
