CFS has partnered with a rapidly expanding Professional Services tech company that is seeking a Revenue Accounting Consultant to take full ownership of the financial lifecycle of their services business. As the company’s software footprint continues to scale, the Revenue Accounting Consultant will ensure accurate billing, proper revenue recognition under ASC 606, and provide executive‑level reporting that guides operational growth.

This is a high‑visibility opportunity for someone who thrives in SaaS, understands complex revenue models, and enjoys working closely with cross‑functional teams.

Why This Revenue Accountant Consultant Role Stands Out

  • Full ownership of revenue operations: invoicing, backlog, KPIs, and ASC 606
  • Strategic seat at the table — reporting directly to the CFO
  • Fully remote role operating on EST hours
  • High impact on decision‑making, forecasting, and process scaling
  • Perfect for a Revenue Accountant Consultant who wants autonomy and influence
Key Responsibilities

As the Revenue Accounting Consultant, you will be responsible for:

Revenue Recognition & Invoicing
  • Manage end‑to‑end invoicing across all service offerings (implementations, trainings, custom work)
  • Apply ASC 606 to milestone, T&M, and fixed‑fee revenue streams
  • Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely revenue recognition
Backlog & Pipeline Tracking
  • Maintain the company’s services backlog as the financial source of truth
  • Track sold‑but‑not‑delivered work to enhance forecasting and resource planning
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
  • Develop and report on critical metrics, including:
    • Utilization Rates
    • Project Margins
    • Billable vs. Non‑Billable ratios
    • Average Hourly Realized Rates
Operational Integration
  • Partner with Project Managers to improve time tracking and financial accuracy
  • Support project health reviews and align financials with operational forecasts
Process Improvement
  • Evaluate current revenue workflows and recommend scalable enhancements
  • Implement new tools and automation for efficiency and accuracy
Requirements
  • 5+ years experience in Accounting/Finance within SaaS, Software Services, or Professional Services
  • Strong revenue recognition background and expert understanding of ASC 606
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (analytics, modeling, large‑data manipulation)
  • Experience with PSA systems is a major plus
  • Strong familiarity with Quick Books Online and Hub Spot preferred
  • Ability to communicate financial insights clearly and collaborate cross‑functionally
