SENIOR ACCOUNTANT
Location: Boston, MA

We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented Senior Accountant
. This person will lead all aspects of the financial reporting and financial operations while working closely with the office administration team. The ideal candidate will be excited about contributing to the team's success and will have a team-player mentality.
- Monthly financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP, including all journal entries, accruals and balance sheet reconciliation schedules
- Preparing financial reports, analyses, projections, and budgets
- Preparing tax returns and documentation for external auditors
- Coordinating and assisting with audit preparations
- Managing A/P and check runs
- Cash management and cash forecasting
- Maintaining fixed asset records
- Maintaining proper accounting procedures and controls and related documentation
- Processing W-9 requests, COI requests (and other compliance)
- Coordinating with the Controller to provide financial information as requested
- Developing and implementing process improvements in the finance functions
- Managing audit requests
- Other duties as assigned
- Continual learning and development in the body of knowledge through First Call Academy, to ensure we set the bar for skill level in the industry
- Elite level of customer service, to ensure we continue to be the First Call our customers make for their HVAC needs.
This position will report to the Controller.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
- Deep understanding of financial close process including the preparation journal entries, reconciliation schedules and financial statement package
- Experience in financial operations including A/R, A/P, treasury, payroll and state and local tax compliance
- Great written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced computer skills and ability to quickly learn and adopt new software tools, experience with accounting software
- High degree of professionalism and strong sense of ownership and pride in your work
- Working knowledge of Quickbooks, SAGE Intacct, a plus
- Background in trades environment: construction, electrical, HVAC, a plus
- CPA or desire to pursue CPA designation, a plus
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem‑solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate the computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
