Job Overview
Credit Officer II focuses on asset‑based lending to global commercial and investment banking clients, managing credit risk, and driving growth of funded loans and credit revenue.
Responsibilities- Partner with relationship management and product partners to assess clients’ credit needs and design solutions.
- Lead loan structure conversations and negotiate loan documentation with clients and legal partners.
- Drive credit and risk approval processes for new originations, renewals, increases, and modifications.
- Lead ongoing monitoring of a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with regulations, policy, and procedure.
- Drive the growth of funded loans and revenue while mitigating risks, maintaining asset quality, and adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Act as an escalation point for complex credit transactions.
- Mentor and support associates.
- Manage a portfolio of asset‑based structured loans, proactively identifying new credit solutions and opportunities to grow funded loans and spreads.
- Actively monitor financial and collateral trends and recommend appropriate action.
- Review requests for loan modifications.
- Analyze financial performance, negotiate credit terms, draft proposals, review and negotiate loan documents, and oversee preparation of recommendations for approval.
- Participate in building client relationships.
- Handle both performing credits and distressed/turnaround credits, including managing accounts through restructuring and bankruptcy processes.
- 10+ years’ experience in asset‑based lending, commercial banking, or private credit.
- Sound understanding of credit, transaction structuring, financial and collateral analysis.
- Strong knowledge of legal documentation and ability to draft concise, accurate credit approvals with minimal oversight.
- Effective communication and client‑relationship management skills.
- Experience partnering with relationship managers and product partners across the bank to support business growth.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- Formal credit training, especially with bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
- Proficiency in business acumen, underwriting, risk management, client solutions advisory, executive presence, and critical thinking.
- Strong collaboration, coaching, decision‑making, and organizational effectiveness skills.
Shift: 1st shift (United States);
Hours per week: 40.
Annualized base salary range: $119,000 – $200,000, based on experience, education, and skill set. Eligible for annual discretionary incentives.
