Financial Analyst, Capital Markets
The Role
As a member of the Market Insights & Client Strategy team within the Strategy and Insights Group (SAIG), the Analyst will work under the direction of team members to conduct research, develop MFS’s views, and deliver in‑depth analysis, insight, and thought leadership related to capital markets and the macroeconomic environment.
The Analyst will support the team in sourcing data and assisting in the analysis of capital market and economic themes, including equity, fixed income, multi‑asset, and macro themes. Responsibilities also include working on retirement issues, asset allocation, and other client projects; creating client‑ready presentations, white papers, webcasts, conference presentations, and responding to client enquiries.
What you will do- Work on a research program related to all aspects and asset classes in the capital markets, partnering to develop and maintain capital‑markets collateral and tracking economic and political forces, market structures, and providing ongoing commentary, views, and perspectives.
- Assist in creating and maintaining databases and presentations related to all asset classes in capital markets; compile existing data, conduct research and analysis of new data, and produce analysis and presentation materials.
- Coordinate with the team on discrete projects related to data collection and analysis to support market and macro‑oriented initiatives; assist other team members and perform additional duties as requested.
- Work closely with senior leaders in Market Insights & Client Strategy and distribution colleagues on ad‑hoc client projects across client segments and channels.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 0–2+ years of financial services or analytical experience (plus, not required).
- Ability to learn quantitative tools and techniques and perform quantitative analysis.
- Critical thinking skills, with the capability to distill complex topics into simple, actionable messages.
- Interest in technical subject matter related to all asset classes and global capital markets.
- Previous investment research or analysis experience is a plus.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to design and develop investment models using macros and complex data‑analysis functions.
- Proficiency in creating presentations, spreadsheets, and discussion guides efficiently.
- Progress toward CFA, MBA, or other master’s degree.
Base Salary Range: $79,000.00 – $. The position is eligible for a competitive incentive bonus.
