About the Role

We are hiring a Macro Trader focused on executing orders from portfolio managers across our global book of business with an emphasis on Foreign Exchange (FX), Global Rates, and Commodities. While primarily an execution role, the trader will add value to client portfolios through collaboration with portfolio managers and analysts. The Trader will work collaboratively with Wellington's global trading teams located in Boston, London, and Hong Kong.

  • Superior trade execution skills – execute orders consistent with best execution and risk management practices, employing both high- and low-touch methods. Gather, analyze, and disseminate market, sector, and instrument information to identify actionable investment opportunities. Develop understanding of portfolio managers' philosophies to contribute to investment dialogue. Monitor and improve efficiency while mitigating risk.
  • Superior collaboration skills – work as an individual contributor within a collaborative team, building trusting relationships externally with counter parties and internally with portfolio managers, strategists, analysts, and other traders. Solicit trade interest from portfolio managers and locate external supply. Take risk, challenge investment views, admit mistakes, learn from others, and communicate action-oriented opinions clearly.
  • Growth mindset – maintain flexibility and openness to continuous learning, evolving, and growing as a trader. Bring a global perspective and creative approach to innovation and the evolution of investment products and market structures.
Other Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience trading currency, rates, or commodity markets. Experience with a wide array of instruments is additive.
  • Strong academic credentials: undergraduate degree required; CFA or Master's degree viewed favorably.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply them in a highly practical fashion.
  • Pro-technology mindset and ability to leverage technology to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (SQL, Python, R, MATLAB, etc.) and data analysis/visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, etc.) in a financial markets context is additive.
  • Self‑starter attitude and ability to proactively identify, review, and lead efforts to improve processes.
  • Impeccable integrity, fiduciary mindset, and consistently place client interests as the priority.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Precision and risk‑management mindset that results in accurate, compliant work, frequent reconciliation of work throughout the day.
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range: USD 120,000 – 225,000. Salary reflects skill set, role, experience, certifications, and education. Other rewards may include discretionary corporate bonus and/or incentives if eligible.
