Role Summary

The Sr. Payroll Manager will be responsible for leading end to end payroll operations while building scalable process that can grow with the business. This role ensures accurate, timely and compliant payroll processes while driving process efficiency and strong internal controls. Reporting to the Associate Director, HR Operations, the Senior Manager serves as the subject matter expert in ADP Workforce Now and acts as a key partner with members of our HR and finance team and liaise with external vendors.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee Servier’s bi-weekly payroll for approximately 700 employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Primary owner and advanced user of ADP Workforce Now, including reporting, audits, and issue resolution.
  • Drive operational improvements within payroll process and HR Operations by identifying process gaps and developing scalable solutions.
  • Responsible for approving and sign-off of payroll prior to submission.
  • Oversee payroll interfaces and data feeds to benefits and finance partners, including 401(k), FSA, HSA, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with payroll manager on strategy, process improvements, and system enhancements.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Manage payroll tax processes, including quarterly and year-end filings.
  • Lead payroll audits, reconciliations, year-end activities, and general ledger accuracy.
  • Partner with the broader US HR team to strengthen processes that improve data accuracy and improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Legal & Compliance, and HR teams to ensure compliance with reporting requirements and internal policies.
  • Proactively update and maintain payroll policies, calendars, checklists, and other procedural documentation.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions and issues in a timely manner, escalating concerns when appropriate.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and conduct proactive analysis of payroll and compensation activity as needed.
Education and Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 7+ years of payroll-related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the ADP payroll system is required.
  • Experience leading payroll transitions and system implementations.
  • Experience working with third-party payroll processors, benefits administration, and benefit carriers, including 401(k) plans.
  • Strong understanding of payroll accounting, general ledger reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll compliance, tax regulations, and payroll best practices.
  • Experience developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and internal control
  • Advanced Excel skills highly desired
  • Highly detail-oriented, with a strong employee service mindset and a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated, with a proven ability to initiate and deliver projects successfully with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Travel and Location
  • Boston based hybrid role, reporting to the Boston Seaport office 2-3 days per week
