Job Description & How to Apply Below

A leading institutional investment organization is seeking a highly analytical and execution-focused Associate to help expand its tax-advantaged investment platform across multiple strategies, including transferable tax credits, renewable energy tax equity, and affordable housing tax credit investments.

This role offers the opportunity to lead transaction execution with significant independence while working at the intersection of project finance, renewable energy, tax policy, and institutional portfolio management. The successful candidate will play an important role in sourcing, evaluating, structuring, and managing investments that support both financial performance and broader impact objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all stages of the investment process across transferable tax credit, renewable energy tax equity, and affordable housing tax credit transactions.
  • Develop and review financial models, perform technical and tax diligence, evaluate investment risks, and prepare investment committee materials.
  • Analyze transaction structures and identify key commercial, legal, and tax considerations.
  • Structure, negotiate, and execute tax credit and tax equity investments from initial diligence through closing.
  • Coordinate with internal legal, tax, accounting, treasury, and risk teams, as well as external advisors and counter parties, to ensure successful transaction execution.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact during negotiations with developers, sponsors, syndicators, and legal counsel.
  • Monitor and manage active investments throughout their lifecycle.
  • Maintain relationships with project sponsors, syndicators, and other investment partners.
  • Track investment performance, compliance requirements, reporting obligations, and ongoing risk management.
Business Development & Market Coverage
  • Build and maintain relationships with renewable energy developers, affordable housing market participants, syndicators, and other transaction counter parties.
  • Support investment sourcing efforts through market intelligence, relationship management, and evaluation of new opportunities.
  • Identify investments that align with portfolio objectives, tax capacity, and risk-adjusted return targets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with colleagues across tax, legal, treasury, finance, accounting, and investment teams to support successful transaction execution and portfolio management.
  • Contribute to process improvements, knowledge sharing, and the continued development of the investment platform.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment by sharing insights, mentoring junior colleagues, and supporting strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 5–9 years of experience in renewable energy finance, tax equity investing, transferable tax credits, affordable housing tax credit investing, project finance, investment banking, infrastructure investing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience structuring and executing complex investment transactions, with direct responsibility for deal execution rather than solely analytical support.
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing investment memoranda and presenting recommendations to senior decision-makers.
  • Working knowledge of investment tax credit and production tax credit structures, including partnership flip transactions, placed-in-service requirements, and recapture considerations.
  • Familiarity with transferable tax credit transactions, including transfer agreements, tax credit insurance, and supporting diligence documentation, is preferred.
  • Experience with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit investments, including partnership structures, credit delivery, syndicator relationships, compliance requirements, and investor reporting, is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent transactions while coordinating cross-functional internal teams and external counter parties.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve research, financial analysis, workflow efficiency, and productivity while maintaining appropriate governance and professional judgment.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced investment environment.
