Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days remote)
Salary: $80k - $90k (depending on experience)
A leading private equity investment firm is seeking a Finance Associate to join its collaborative finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with 2-3 years of experience who is looking to transition into private equity or continue building a career within alternative investments. You'll gain broad exposure to fund accounting, investor reporting, cash management, financial reporting, and investment transactions while working alongside an experienced team in a highly regarded investment firm.
Responsibilities
- Support daily cash management activities, including wire processing, cash reconciliations, and cash reporting
- Prepare and review capital calls and distribution calculations while coordinating with investors
- Record quarterly cash and accrual journal entries and maintain supporting schedules for both GAAP and tax reporting
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
- Maintain investment schedules and coordinate documentation related to acquisitions and dispositions
- Prepare investment transaction memoranda and supporting documentation
- Review work completed by third-party fund administrators
- Prepare audit schedules, confirmations, and supporting documentation for external auditors
- Assist with partnership agreement compliance and key reporting deadlines
- Respond to investor requests and ad hoc information inquiries
- Build relationships with banking, legal, and external service providers
- Participate in process improvements and special projects across the finance team
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of public accounting experience or 2-3 years of private accounting experience
- CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Excellent Excel and analytical skills
- Strong communication and organizational abilities
- Experience with Investran or other fund accounting software is a plus
- Prior private equity or alternative investment experience is beneficial but not required
