Mediator – Insurance & Financial Services

• Mediate consumer complaints, with a particular focus on investments, annuities, and lending disputes which may involve extended advocacy
• Analyze and research various topics to provide information, referrals, and guidance to consumers
• Collaborate with other government agencies and community partners
• Assist in investigations, litigation, and policy work relating to financial services issues
• Work in the Attorney General’s Insurance & Financial Services Division, which provides consumer assistance and enforces laws regarding insurance, investment, and lending issues
• Focus on automobile lending and insurance, as well as post-secondary educational debt, including student loan servicing and debt collection

• Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience
• Experience or familiarity with securities, investments, and consumer lending preferred
• Data analysis skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Effective verbal communication skills, including the ability to actively listen and explain complex information clearly and patiently to consumers, insurers, and financial services entities
• Excellent written communication skills, including experience writing letters, memos, emails, summaries, and translating complex information in a clear and accessible manner
• Ability to listen well, read carefully, and assess complex situations
• Effective research, organization, and time management skills
• Ability to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities served and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment
