Who we are looking for:
The Sustainable Investing Research Analyst is a member of the Sustainable Investing Research team within State Street Investment Management's Sustainable Investing organization. The role is responsible for leading investment-relevant quantitative research projects and the implementation of the team's capabilities to enable investment teams to meet client objectives. The SI Research Analyst is a key contributor to State Street Investment Management's industry leading sustainable investing research capability and sustainable investment solution innovation in order to meet rising client demand.
The position is based in Boston and reports to the Global Head of Sustainable Investing Research.

The Sustainable Investing Research ("SI Research") team conducts thematic research, produces thought leadership, enables product innovation, and ensures the integrity of sustainable investing data that is integrated in client portfolios to achieve various sustainable investing objectives. Through its expertise, it enables sustainable investing product development and develops new capabilities to support product innovation, with the goal of ensuring these capabilities are credible in their approach to achieving sustainable investing objectives.
As part of its mandate to ensure data integrity, the team owns the firm's sustainable investing data and vendor strategy to stay on top of emerging capabilities, acts as the center of expertise on sustainable investing data for investment teams, and maintains strong data monitoring and governance practices.
- Lead quantitative research projects that enable sustainable investing product innovation
- Develop credible implementation methodologies to new investment approaches, e.g., sustainable outcome investing
- Partner with PM teams to conduct asset class-specific research on sustainability factors and to support client solutions
- Oversee the implementation of sustainable investment capabilities in internal systems, including ensuring strong data governance
- Develop thought leadership pieces to demonstrate State Street Investment Management's sustainable investing capabilities, focusing on financial materiality
- 7+ years of experience in quantitative research and data analysis in the asset management industry, preferably with a large global asset manager, asset owner, or investment consulting organization
- Understanding of the investment process and how sustainability factors can be integrated to achieve client objectives
- Strong intellectual curiosity and passion in understanding how sustainability factors drive long-term value, with a practical mindset in applying the research output to create and enhance investment solutions
- Self-starter with ability to set priorities and execute research projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate successfully in a global team setting
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, CFA or other industry accreditation a plus
$120,000 - $202,500 Annual
