JOB SUMMARY
The District Liaison serves as a conduit of information and assistance between district constituents, municipal leaders, and stakeholders and the Senate President's Office (SPO). The District Liaison keeps apprised of district issues and activities and, under the direction of the District Director, shares information with the SPO.
The District Liaison is a key contact for constituent assistance for the Senate President's district and liaises with federal, state, and local entities to resolve problems for the Senate President's constituents. The District Liaison may represent the Senate President in the district and may accompany and advise the Senate President on district activities. The District Liaison reports to the District Director.

New hires can expect a salary between $58,872 and $74,664, which will be based on related experience, education, and training.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Receive and respond to constituent requests for help resolving problems or for assistance in receiving services, products, or benefits from federal, state, local or private-sector providers, providing constituents with regular casework progress updates.
* Respond to local officials' inquiries and issues, as well as provide new information on policies, grants, and information related to local needs.
* Gather and maintain information on local events and issues in designated communities in the Senate President's district.
* Research, report to, and advise SPO staff on district issues, with emphasis on policy and/or legislative ramifications.
* Schedule, plan, coordinate, and conduct district meetings and events for the Senate President under the direction of the District Director.
* Resolve district issues for constituents, elected municipal leaders, advocates, businesses, and organizations in consultation with the District Director.
* Inform and advise the Senate President on district issues, events, outreach opportunities and economic and demographic trends in consultation with the District Director.
* Attend district meetings and activities with or on behalf of the Senate President.
Other Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
* Support district individuals and entities by coordinating, or assisting with, sponsor ships, nominations, Senate citations, and letters of congratulations.
* Research and track local legislation, municipal fiscal priorities, and related legislative and budget actions.
* Contribute to the Senate President's district communications, including constituent correspondence, social media, press requests, talking points and preparation for municipal and other meetings as needed.
* Provide input into scheduling the Senate President's attendance in the district.
* Manage office virtual filing system and database.
* Read, sort, and respond to correspondence using the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* One to two years of college or technical school and at least 1 year of relevant experience, or any of the following combinations of education and experience:
* Bachelor's degree; or
* At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
* Basic understanding of state government operations and the legislative process.
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of district issues, demographics, politics, stakeholders, and history.
* Knowledge of office computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite and remote meeting platforms.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities and stakeholders in a tactful, positive, collaborative, and professional manner.
* Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
* Ability to think critically and work both independently and as part of a team.
* Ability to produce quality work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to maintain a flexible schedule including working extended hours, possibly on nights and weekends.
* Ability to travel throughout the communities of the Middlesex and Norfolk Senate District:
Framingham, Natick, Holliston, Hopkinton, Ashland, and Medway.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of the Middlesex and Norfolk Senate District.
* Fluency in at least 1 language other than English, particularly Spanish or Portuguese.
