Position: Investigative Analyst (Polygraph Examiner/Quality Reviewer)

Summary

Investigative Analyst (Polygraph Examiner/Quality Reviewer) at the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Responsible for conducting polygraph examinations, quality control, and providing guidance on polygraph operations and policy. The role supports field offices and contributes to national security and public trust.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and conduct polygraph examinations of investigative subjects.
  • Identify information and report polygraph conclusions for potential pre‑disqualifying misconduct.
  • Verify applicant statements using polygraph disciplines to support adjudicative decisions.
  • Advise staff coordinators, the Polygraph Program Manager, and the Section Chief regarding operations and policy.
  • Perform DEA polygraph examinations and/or perform polygraph quality control review of examinations.
Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Federal agency certified federal polygraph examiner in good standing, with successful completion of the National Center for Credibility Assessment (NCCA) course or predecessor Basic PDD course; certificate required.
  • At least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to GS‑12 level; volunteer experience may be credited.
  • Demonstrated experience in empirical scoring, pre/post‑examination interviews, distinguishing disqualifying conduct, testimony as a federal agent, and technical review of files.
  • Time‑in‑grade and time after competitive appointment as required by the announcement.
Conditions of Employment
  • Survival of a background investigation and issuance of a security clearance.
  • Random drug testing and urinalysis prior to appointment.
  • Probationary period of 1 year (or 1‑ or 2‑year trial period as appropriate).
  • Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Success in E‑Verify employment verification.
