Position: Temp Housing Code Policy Manager

Job Title

Job Overview:

Pay Range: $27.39hr - $32.39hr

Requirement/Must Have:
  • Familiarity with local and/or state building code.
  • Knowledge of historical changes to the state building code and process reforms necessary to approach future code changes.
  • Research and discovery capabilities.
  • Writing and material development skills needed to communicate research, findings, and code proposals.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated good judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to follow instructions and independently determine tasks needed to complete assignments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other Secretariats and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
  • Chair the single stair technical advisory group created by executive order.
  • Introduce a code change amendment to change the definition of high-rise buildings to meet the national standard and make 6-8 story buildings more feasible.
  • Introduce several related code change amendments to make it more feasible to build small multifamily developments like triple-deckers.
  • Perform all code related research, cost assessment, recommendation drafting, and material creation for official meetings.
  • Prepare briefs for the Secretary on any code related policy development.
  • Engage with external stakeholders to gain information related to code changes.
  • Draft actual code changes to be submitted to the regulatory body.
  • Provide additional support for the Assistant Director of Policy related to Building Code Development and Research.
