Research Fellow Psychiatry

Overview

Our research group in the Department of Psychiatry is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to assist with the design and implementation of psychosocial and community-based health service interventions among underserved, older adult populations to increase access to mental health interventions. The position seeks individuals with a track record in mental health, psychosocial program or intervention development, and a PhD in Clinical Social Work, Clinical Gerontology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, organization, and attention to detail are essential. The fellow will work closely with Dr. Jin hui Joo, MD MA and will have responsibility for oversight and management of research coordinators.

• Design and development of research protocols
• Implementation of research protocols involving recruitment and enrollment for community-based interventions
• Manage collaboration with community partners including conducting study presentations for lay audiences
• Oversee and aid in moving participants through studies: recruiting, scheduling, and conducting assessments
• Coordinate team meetings and oversee Research Assistants
• Oversee regulatory activities such as IRB submission and reporting to funding organizations
• Assist with data management
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data
• Participate in academic writing, including literature review, manuscript writing, and grant writing
• Assist in scholarly products for presentation at conferences such as abstracts and scientific presentations

• Knowledge of mental illness, health behaviors, behavior change, and exposure to behavioral interventions
• Previous experience working with older adults in clinical research settings
• Previous experience in recruiting and enrolling research participants in the community
• Knowledge of strategies for research engagement
• Experience with protocol development
• Experience with data collection and management
• Previous experience with research publications
• Knowledge of and ability to lead quantitative and qualitative data analysis
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Strong organizational and meticulous attention to detail

• Computers, general office and communication equipment
• Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, Canva
• REDCap, R, STATA, and other biostatistical applications
