Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Job Summary:
Improving the quality of the lives of individuals and their families who face the challenges of developmental disabilities, aging, mental illness, and drug and alcohol addiction. We will accomplish this mission by providing effective and compassionate services and through advocacy and leadership.
The Clubhouse Worker supports this mission by performing the following tasks:
- Facilitate group discussions for the Membership Unit, coordinate and complete administrative tasks with club members, and conduct research for outings and club activities.
- Facilitate Food Service work unit as needed, to ensure proper meal planning occurs
- Provide job-coaching services to members involved in all types of employment:
Transitional, Supported, and Independent. - Function as key staff for club members.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Requirements for the position:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in human services, and at least one year’s experience working with adults with psychiatric disabilities preferred.
- Ability to relate to individuals who possess a wide range of abilities and skills.
- Ability to relate to groups of all sizes.
- Ability to relate to a diverse membership in a manner that respects individual’s human dignity.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong team player.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities/ multi-task, and display good judgment.
- Computer Skills.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- An acceptable CORI.
Essential Functions of Position:
- Work side by side with club members in work units.
- Train club members to use unit equipment.
- Provide job coaching.
- Assist club members in negotiating Social Security entitlements.
- Function as a key staff member for assigned members.
- Complete rehabilitation/Action plans for assigned club members.
- Maintain contacts with members and providers.
- Provide supportive and crisis counseling.
- Write contact notes and incident reports.
- Facilitate other work units as needed.
- Facilitate discussion groups and outings.
- Provide outreach services to club members.
- Complete outreach log for DMH Contracting Reports.
- Assist with completion and distribution of clubhouse calendar, mailing, and Newsletter
- Assist with maintenance of physical space, including decorations, plant etc.
- Drive the agency van when needed.
