MFM sonographer:
Clinical Imaging
Perform comprehensive obstetric ultrasounds, including:
First trimester scans (NT, early anatomy)
Detailed second- and third-trimester anatomy surveys
Growth and biophysical profiles (BPP)
Multiple gestations
Cervical length assessment
Placental evaluation/PAS
Doppler studies (umbilical artery, MCA, ductus venosus)
High-Risk & Specialized Exams
Evaluate complex maternal and fetal conditions
Identify abnormal findings
Support fetal therapy and invasive procedures. (Sonographers do not guide or perform)
Amniocentesis
Chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
PUBS (cordocentesis)
Selective Fetal reduction are performed at this facility by physicians
Patient Care
Provide compassionate care to patients facing high-risk pregnancies
Explain procedures while staying within scope
Maintain privacy and emotional sensitivity
Documentation & Workflow
Acquire high-quality diagnostic images
Complete measurements accurately
Enter exam data into EMR/PACS systems
Ensure studies meet accreditation standards (AIUM/ACR)
Collaboration
Work closely with MFM physicians, Radiologists, nurses, genetic counselors, and support staff
Participate in multidisciplinary care coordination
