Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced MFM Sonographer with 3+ years of experience for a high-risk OB ultrasound travel assignment in the Boston, MA area.
Responsibilities- High-risk OB ultrasound unit with 6 exam rooms in a busy MFM setting
- Works alongside MFM physicians and skilled Radiologists in the same setting
- Performs comprehensive obstetric ultrasounds including first trimester scans (NT, early anatomy), detailed second- and third-trimester anatomy surveys, growth and biophysical profiles (BPP), multiple gestations, cervical length assessment, placental evaluation/PAS, and Doppler studies (umbilical artery, MCA, ductus venosus)
- Anatomy scans are 45 minutes (90 minutes for twins); follow-up/NT exams are 30 minutes (60 minutes for twins)
- Currently uses GE E10 ultrasound systems, transitioning to Samsung Hera Z20 in Spring 2026
- Supports fetal therapy and invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, CVS, and PUBS (sonographers do not guide or perform these procedures)
- Charting via Epic EMR and PACS systems
- Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 13-week contract
- Performs comprehensive and high-risk obstetric ultrasounds with an emphasis on image quality, accurate measurements, and timely documentation
- Abnormal findings are communicated promptly to providers, with bedside consults performed as needed
- Works collaboratively with MFM physicians, radiologists, nurses, genetic counselors, and support staff in a multidisciplinary care model
- Provides compassionate, privacy-conscious care to patients navigating high-risk pregnancies
- Studies must meet AIUM/ACR accreditation standards
- Flu vaccine is required; no religious or medical exemptions are permitted
- Local candidates residing within 60 miles of the facility are eligible but may receive a reduced travel pay rate
- No validated parking is available at Boston-area locations; public transportation and paid public parking lots are available nearby
- 2 professional references required for consideration
- RTO requests must be disclosed at the time of consideration
- Minimum of 3 years of MFM/obstetric sonography experience
- Active BLS certification (AHA only accepted)
- License required if applicable; MA conditional licenses are not accepted
- ARDMS or equivalent sonography certification required
- Experience with high-risk OB exams including Doppler studies, multiple gestations, NT scans, and placental assessment
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
