The position requires flexibility with schedule, including evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work within a team structure under the direction of the CCI Lab Manager Designee and Supervisor to ensure an efficient and high-quality specimen-processing environment while providing customer-oriented services.

  • Perform routine specimen analysis using waived or non-waived sample testing and record sample results.
  • Maintain laboratory instrumentation to performance standards, participate in the investigation of new equipment and instrumentation, and make recommendations based on utility and performance. Collect data to discuss problems and initiate remedial action as necessary.
  • Help maintain an adequate inventory of supplies used by the SPL lab, including ordering supplies, maintaining proper storage of reagents and supplies, and maintaining all appropriate records.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of new personnel in specimen processing laboratory procedures and policies, as required for the individual's level of interaction with the SPL.
  • Participate in internal and external continuing education programs and/or present projects or data at meetings; draft and modify written procedures for study-specific events/data procedures; act as a liaison between investigators to identify areas for quality and workflow improvements.
  • Assist investigators with research activities, including literature searches, literature reviews, entering papers into a reference database, compiling and checking reference lists for manuscripts, grants, and other written reports, drafting text for reports and abstracts, assisting in preparation of IRB and other applications, organizing and processing study data, creating and maintaining databases/files containing study data, compiling data for analysis, reviewing study records for missing tests or samples, entering data into tables, editing data copies, and performing statistical and graphical analysis.
