Ultrasonographer (Healthcare)
Position SummaryThe Ultra sonographer will be responsible for performing high quality sonographic examinations in consort with the radiologist. Some of these exams may require the use of high level disinfection technique. In addition to the technical aspects of the position, the Ultra sonographer is responsible for quality improvement activities and quality control of the sonograms produced.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations as directed by the requesting physician under the guidance of the on‑site radiologist.
- Coordinates sonograms requested with other radiology examinations according to patient's needs.
- Assists the radiologist in performing invasive ultrasound studies using high level disinfection technique and standard precautions.
- Responsible for making adjustments to the schedule to accommodate emergent exams.
- Maintains all probes and patient care equipment in good working order following all manufacturers' recommendations and all Health Center approved cleaning or disinfecting procedures.
- Recommends service of equipment as needed.
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited school of diagnostic medical sonography.
- 3‑5 years experience in a high paced environment.
- Experience in abdominal, fetal and small parts sonography.
- Some vascular experience is a plus.
- RDMS registration in force and in good standing.
