Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Full‑time onsite.

Compensation: $19.50 per hour plus paid training and a comprehensive benefits package.
AMR St. Louis Emergency Communications Center is one of the largest private EMD Centers in the country, serving multiple Midwest states. We respond to inter‑facility requests, private calls, and 911 municipalities. Employees triage medical calls and give pre‑arrival instructions.
What is an Emergency Medical Dispatcher?An Emergency Medical Dispatcher receives, records, and manages ambulance assistance requests. They process both emergency and non‑emergency transports, collecting information rapidly and accurately to deploy appropriate resources.
About the ProgramEligible candidates are hired as full‑time employees and receive compensation for all completed training.
The program includes classroom, live, and scenario‑based training. It covers internationally recognized Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification, CPR, and other non‑emergency intake skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Apply EMD principles and AMR‑customized protocols to deliver a minimum standard of care.
- Allocate EMS resources according to approved protocols and processes.
- Maintain expertise with the computer‑aided dispatch system (CAD).
- Enter accurate data for all service requests.
- Follow company and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Participate in ongoing continuing education.
- Function effectively in stressful environments.
- Communicate clearly in writing and verbally with patients, medical personnel, co‑workers, and clients.
- Use maps to determine locations for transport requests and crew safety.
- Monitor multiple radio channels to stay in contact with local agencies.
- Prioritize tasks while maintaining professionalism.
- Provide high‑level customer service during emergencies.
- Use basic computer applications.
- Work scheduled weekends and holidays as part of a rotation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the department.

- Age 18 or older.
- Proof of high‑school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of a computer‑aided pre‑interview test.
- Clear communication via telephone and radio.
- Ability to listen, talk, and type simultaneously.
