POSITION TITLE: Senior Epidemiologist - School Health & School-based Behavioral Health

OVERVIEWThe CDC Foundation seeks an Epidemiologist to support the Office of Statistics and Evaluation (OSE) within the Bureau of Community Health & Prevention (BCHAP) in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The School Health & School-based Behavioral Health Epidemiologist conducts analytic work with school health datasets, including descriptive statistics, data visualizations, needs assessments, regression analyses, and other analyses as appropriate using school health program and screening data as well as publicly available MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) data.
The School Health & School-based Behavioral Health Epidemiologist also supports the development of school health data collection systems and design of data collection tools. This position works closely with program staff and other epidemiologist staff in the Office of Youth Mental Health & Wellbeing on data translation, interpretation of findings, and dissemination.
- Master of Public Health in epidemiology or biostatistics
- At least five (5) years of relevant work experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field.
- Superior knowledge of epidemiology study design and statistical methodology
- Experience with federal grant reporting and deliverables
- Experience conducting data analyses using SAS and/or R
- Experience linking multiple data sets
- Experience with a variety of statistical methods including multivariate linear and logistic regression
- Experience with data visualization using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or ArcGIS
- Experience with public health program data collection, including designing data collection tools
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Detail and process oriented
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Experience with school health or behavioral health data preferred
- Data cleaning and data management of school health datasets
- Developing and maintaining data documentation
- Organizing and conducting analytic and program evaluation projects, including conceptualizing and drafting analytic plans, conducting literature reviews, and determining appropriate analytic methods
- Conducting epidemiologic and statistical analyses using SAS and/or R
- Consulting with other epidemiology staff on the use of appropriate statistical methods and interpretation/limitations of analyses
- Creating data visualizations using descriptive statistics and/or analytic findings
- Presenting results to various internal and external stakeholders, including community groups
- Developing data collection tools for school-based behavioral health programs as appropriate
- Performing other duties as required and as appropriate
This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in order to best support the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in their public health programming.
This position is currently a hybrid position. CDC Foundation retains the right to make adjustments to this as required.
