Requirements

A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited educational program is required. This education must support independent clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning within a behavioral health or psychiatric scope of practice.

Candidates must hold an active, unrestricted Massachusetts license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), APRN, or Physician Assistant (PA-C), maintained in good standing with the applicable licensing board. The clinician must remain compliant with all state licensing, prescribing, and scope-of-practice requirements throughout employment.

The role requires a demonstrated ability to engage patients effectively and promote treatment adherence through trauma-informed, person-centered, and recovery-oriented approaches. This includes building strong therapeutic rapport, supporting motivation for change, and fostering continuity of care across treatment episodes.

The clinician is expected to consistently complete accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation for all patient encounters. Documentation must meet organizational standards, payer requirements, and regulatory expectations, including HIPAA and applicable behavioral health regulations.

Strong collaboration skills are essential to support integrated, recovery-oriented care within an interdisciplinary treatment team. This includes clear and respectful communication with clinical, medical, and support staff to ensure coordinated treatment planning and high-quality patient outcomes.
