Position DetailsPosition: Patient Care Technician
Department: SNICU
Schedule: 36 Hours, Nights / Every Other Weekend
The surgical/neuro science intensive care unit (SNICU) is a 28-bed unit providing post-operative care for complex patients, including trauma, neurology, cardiac surgical, vascular, and general surgery cases.
Job Responsibilities- Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Critical Care department and their families.
- Clinical services may include obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and providing emotional support.
- Carry out environmental and inventory activities to maintain a safe, clean, and properly equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the Critical Care department.
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care department to support quality patient and family clinical outcomes.
- A high school diploma or GED certificate
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), including CPR (current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
- Ability to pass clinical competency testing
- Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
- Basic math and computer proficiency
- One of the following qualifications:
- One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting
- Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
- Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training
- Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
- One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
- Fluency in another language is a plus
- Previous medical/surgical experience preferred
