Job SummaryThe mission of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences is to understand and intervene on the social determinants of health and health equity across the life-course. This includes research on social and behavioral determinants, development and evaluation of interventions and policies, and preparation of professionals and researchers for leadership in advocacy and public service. The department educates scholars and practitioners who design, implement, and evaluate health-enhancing interventions.
Job-SpecificResponsibilities
The primary role of the Program Coordinator is to provide support for the collaborative, technical assistance, and educational activities of the MCH Training Grant and the School's MCH Concentration. This includes managing an ongoing training grant, supporting students planning on concentrating in MCH, providing technical assistance to state and Local Title V agencies and other programs serving mothers and children, and assisting in planning and execution of events related to the grant.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Research Support and Technical Assistance:
- Translate relevant current HSPH research activities to meet programmatic needs of Title V agencies and organizations serving mothers, children, and families; assist in developing new research activities
- Facilitate communication between agency staff and MCH faculty investigators
- Develop study materials and data collection protocols for research collaborations using software such as REDCap
- Train and supervise student research assistants
- Design and maintain study databases and track progress of studies with Title V agencies
- Grant and Finance Support for MCH Training Grant:
- Monitor adherence to grant requirements to ensure appropriate student selection and policy compliance
- Coordinate student funding (tuition, stipends, travel, etc.) and liaise with relevant offices
- Draft sections of required training grant reporting documents
- General Administrative Support:
- Serve as principal contact and source of expertise on the MCH concentration for faculty, administrators, and students
- Develop and oversee student activities related to the training grant and concentration (seminars, symposia, engagement with academic and public health agencies)
- Coordinate with faculty, outside agencies, and School administrators regarding student support services (IT, IRB, Student Aid, Reimbursements, etc.)
- Develop and maintain web-based materials for the MCH training grant and concentration
- Prepare statistics on program participation and maintain information on former trainees for tracking
- Develop and implement recruitment activities for the concentration
- Monitor student compliance with and certify completion of concentration requirements
- Other duties as assigned
Note: This position has a term end date of 1 year from date of hire, with possibility for extension.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience required; a combination of education and experience may be considered
Additional
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health or related field (e.g., MCH) strongly preferred
- Experience in research project management, federally funded training programs, statistics, grant writing, and event coordination
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Operational thinking, strong writing and presentation skills, organizational skills, project management, and ability to handle complex information independently
