A specialized opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses with a focus in Intensive Care to provide critical care support in a Level III Trauma Center ICU. This contract role is located in Boston, Massachusetts, offering an immersive environment in a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU that handles complex adult cases including substance abuse, psychiatric emergencies, diabetic keto acidosis, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, renal failure, and cardiogenic shock.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:
  • Active Massachusetts RN license.
  • Minimum of 2 years continuous adult ICU experience, preferably in Medical ICU (MICU).
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and interpreting tele strips is mandatory.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Ability to float to medical/surgical units managing up to 4-5 patients.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.
Schedule / Hours:
  • Nights and every-other-weekend shifts available.
  • 36 or 48-hour shifts with floating required.
  • Rotating day shifts involved (7am-7pm, 11am-11pm, or 7pm-7am).
  • Night shifts are fixed without rotation.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill medical patients.
  • Collaborate with attending physicians and residents present 24/7 to coordinate care plans.
  • Manage patient conditions ranging from respiratory failure to cardiogenic shock.
  • Maintain a nurse-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to med/surg units.
  • Utilize EPIC for accurate and timely documentation.
