Job Summary
Location:
55 Fruit Street, Massachusetts. This Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role is 40hours per week with 3‑13hour shifts, D/N rotation, and weekend/holiday requirements. The APP works under the supervision of Cardiac Surgeons and Heart Center Intensivists, caring for patients on the Cardiac Surgical Service, primarily those in the Cardiac Surgery/Heart Center Intensive Care Unit. The NP is a licensed provider, credentialed with Operative First Assist, and may act as a responding clinician for patients with ventricular assist devices.
- Participate in daily rounds with nurses, intensivists, residents, and multidisciplinary caregivers.
- Perform bedside diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Develop and implement care plans, coordinate tests and consultations, and communicate updates to surgeons and intensivists.
- Maintain open communication with cardiac surgeons, residents, fellows, PAs, nursing staff, cardiologists, heart failure team, and patients/families.
- Serve as a role model for professional APP practice and promote collaborative teamwork for continuity of patient care.
- Minimum 2years ICU experience, preferably cardiac ICU.
- Advanced knowledge of ECG, radiology, laboratory data, ventilators, PA catheters, mechanical circulatory support devices, and vasoactive medications.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to function in a high‑intensity, complex unit.
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Master’s in Nursing / Physician Assistant degree with MA license.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (MA license) preferred.
- Experience in Cardiac Surgery, Trauma/ER, Inpatient Cardiology, or Heart Failure practice is a plus.
