Position: Patient Care Technician, CCU, 24 Hours (Days / Every Other Weekend / Rotating Holidays)

About the Critical Care/CCU Department

The Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) is a 10-bed unit that provides critical care nursing to complex cardiology patients, including those with STEMIs, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, trans-femoral aortic valve replacements, and dysrhythmias.

Position Summary

As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Critical Care department, you will be a key member of the healthcare team, working under the direction of registered nurses to provide direct clinical and support services.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform delegated patient care interventions such as obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and providing emotional support.
  • Perform environmental and inventory activities to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the department, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS) and current CPR certification (obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
  • Basic math and computer proficiency.
  • One of the following experiences:
  • One year of previous experience as a CNA/PCT in an acute hospital setting.
  • Currently enrolled in a nursing program with completion of two clinical rotation cycles.
  • Completed an approved certified nursing assistant training program.
  • Completed an approved certified medical assistant training program.
  • One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (for adult ED positions only).
  • Fluency in another language is a plus.
  • Previous medical/surgical experience preferred.
